  1. I have not read the books and I’m still binge-watching earlier seasons and episodes.

When I read that Jamie was to meet Aunt Jocasta, I immediately thought of Oedipus’ mother/wife. I wondered if there might be a reference to the play. Then I learned that she was blind. There is the connection. I am amazed at the attention to subtle details from the writer. The ending was very hard to take, but was well-acted and believable. I will follow it to the end. I love the series.

  2. Aunt Jocasta was the “iron hand in the velvet glove”. She was listened to, regarded and respected, and got things done. She knew her people and considering the era in which she lived, this was a great accomplishment. I don’t believe in slavery or using people as utilities nor looked down upon, but in view of the times in which she lived she rather tiptoed around events as they came up. I don’t blame Jamie for wanting to create a life for himself and Claire, it was the best thing to do. Aunt Jocasta had her own plans for him, but Jamie was a leader not a follower.

  3. I am watching it again now for the 5th time. More I watch it and more I like it. I know in the book when Claire tried to help Rufus, it was not at River Run but in a public place and she did help him to die so that he would not suffer more. But I like what they did in this episode. I love Sam’s performance and Maria Doyle Kennedy. Cait was very good too.
