Claire really did luck out for multiple reasons (all hotness and bedroom stuff aside), when Dougal decided to marry her off to someone, and picked Jamie. Rupert and Ned Gowan were close seconds ?. As usual, Murtagh sees right through his thinly veiled plot in this wee visit back to S1, when Jamie was still a virgin, and Dougal was still Dougal…
Oooh a new out-take. Hooray! Do wish more of these wonderful characters were continuing on in the series… and that the show gets renewed all the way up through the 10th book!
Yes!
Jamie learned about the politics of the MacKenzie Clan at a young age and had done his best to steer clear of them because he knew how treacherous (or at least dangerous ) it could be.
He was happy with who he was and what he had and didn’t need the headache that (Chief /Laird of )the MacKenzie clan would bring.
I’m delighted to see any new footage, but my feeling about this out-take is that it was left out for the reason that it did not “ring true” for the characters of Murtagh and Dougal at this time in the story. Murtagh was so openly sarcastic to Dougal, rather than being the reticent man of few words.. Dougal’s lines sounded quite off-hand. His reasoning was not very convincing or well thought out, in my opinion. That was handled so much better with Claire in the St. Ninan’s Spring scene.
